The Nevada Gaming Control Board has initially approved the return for daily fantasy sports betting to return to the state.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has given its initial approval for Vic Salerno, the pioneer in the fields of racing and sports-book, to create a service, which would allow players to make fantasy sports wagers via platform similar to pari-mutuel betting. It is the first step towards re-introducing daily fantasy sports betting in the state.

As Las Vegas Review-Journal has reported, The Nevada Gaming Control Board has voted unanimously in favour of introducing to the Nevada state’s Gaming Commission that Salerno and his US Fantasy company receive an off-track, pari-mutuel sports system operator’s licence. This means that if Salerno is granted the final approval, he and his company would become the first to offer betting on fantasy sports contests in Nevada.

Right after the initial approval Salerno has stated that the new service may go live in August. Clients would be able to place bets on the variety of fantasy sports contests, including American football as well as baseball.

Salerno, responsible for inventing Nevada’s first self-service sports wagering kiosk and first mobile sports application, informed that 50% of betting within the service, or more, will come from new players.

The change should find a great approval, as the daily fantasy sports had been an extremely popular service in Nevada. The situation changed in October last year. The state regulatory bodu said that the activity constituted sports wagering under Nevada law, as a result they ruled that in order to operate, the companies have to licensed by the state. As a result of the decision, many of the companies offering daily fantasy sports betting withdrew from the state, with quite a few continuing to lobby against Nevada regulatory body decision.
