Do you remember the small troll that straggled to save his family and get the happy ending that we all dream about? Well yes, it is Hugo I am talking about and Swedish game developer Play’n GO is planing to bring this little chap back to life.
The Danish troll was extremely popular back in the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000. First time Hugo appeared in Danish television in 1990, in an interactive television show for kids. The task was to help Hugo save his wife and three kids from a bad and wicked witch. The TV show was tremendously popular and it was sold to other European countries in order to entertain kids in almost whole Europe.
As a result of the huge popularity of the franchise, Danish company released plenty of products, like monthly magazines, t-shirts caps and all other items that every 90s kid wanted to have. The show even became one of the most popular games to be played on PS1 and kids could enjoy nearly 40 titles featuring Troll, his family and adventures. Now the 90s kids will get the possibility to be entertained by Hugo once more, however, this time in a form of a casino slot game.
Play’n GO, the Swedish absolute leader in the iGaming market, specializing in mobile and desktop casino games, has partnered with Hugo Games A/S, which brought you the Hugo TV show and created the animated troll. The only reason for this partnership is to bring Hugo back to life in a from of casino game to all 90s kids currently playing slot games.
Play’n GO plans to launch the slot in the third quarter of 2023. Taking into consideration the fact that it is a short period of time, we solely hope that the slot version of Hugo Adventures will at least match the original TV show from the 90s. The good news is that Play’n GO will launch Hugo slot in HTML5 and Flash versions simultaneously.
Although not much is known of the game so far, Play’n GO shared some information regarding its new product. Hugo slot will be a game with 5 reels and 10 pay lines. It will have premium graphics only and it will feature all of the animations and sound effects that were in the original show. Whether the game will feature Fernando the toucan or Jean-Paul the chimp is unknown, same as the fact whether the Swedish games developer will stick to one plot or maybe combine all of them in one game.
According to the deal between Play’n GO and Hugo Games A/S, RoyalCasino.dk will be the one to have an exclusive distribution right in Denmark, the home land of Hugo the troll his friends and family. Play’n GO will have the full control of distribution in the rest of the markets. The new Hugo slot will be available to other operators by means of direct deals. All of the rights and entire intellectual property rights to the Hugo franchise are owned by Copenhagen-based Hugo Games A/S (NOK: HUGO) and Play’n GO’s forthcoming title is going to be the first real money adaptation of the Hugo game.
