Bet365 has announced that it will relocate its remote gambling operations to Gibraltar.
Despite the move, the operator will retain a presence in Stoke-on-Trent and confirmed that there will be no redundancies as a result of the relocation.
Bet365, which has had a presence in Gibraltar since 2007, said it has opted to make the move following a review of its structure and will now use the British Overseas Territory as the hub of its licensing.
In a statement, Bet365 said: “As part of the reorganisation, Bet365 is augmenting its existing presence in Gibraltar, a jurisdiction that offers a mature and stable environment for international remote gambling operators.
“Bet365 will now operate its international betting businesses under licences granted by the government of Gibraltar.
"Bet365, which currently holds licences in various territories including Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Denmark and Australia, will also continue with its long-standing policy of pursuing licences in regulated markets and the Bet365 Group, as a whole, remains committed to playing its part in helping to protect the integrity of sport.
“Aside from the staff relocating to Gibraltar, the Bet365 Group will retain a significant presence in Stoke-on-Trent with other existing Bet365 employees remaining there in order to provide various contracted support to the Gibraltar operating hub, including software and technical support, outsourced customer services and contracted marketing services.” |
