New 'free bet' tax set to hit UK's online operators

Global Daily Fantasy Sports has recently announced that the company obtained a combined remote operating licence in the UK.

Global Daily Fantasy Sports secured the licence granted by the UK Gambling Commission through its GDFSI Malta subsidiary.

The licence will allow the company to manufacture, provide, install and adapt gambling software for devices or websites in a network setting and by remote means.

Global Daily Fantasy Sports plans to licence the company’s B2B daily fantasy sports portfolio and technology within the United Kingdom.

Darcy Krogh, chief executive of Global, said: “I am delighted to announce that we have been granted a remote gambling licence in the UK; this will be a key target market for our business moving forward.

“Currently, our focus is on going live with our Italian clients, and with the launch of our .com network shortly thereafter, we plan on signing a number of key strategic partners in the UK.”
