With the support from UK government, the International eGames Committee has announced a new international sport even to appear – the eGames.

The 2023 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro will also include a two-days pop up eventthe first eGames.

A number of multiple games will be held to award best players from around the world with a gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as national pride. No financial awards are taken into account.

As for now, players from UK, Brazil, USA, Canada has confirmed their participation, but more teams are expected to join in the event. The players must be over 18.

Ed Vaizey, the Minister for Culture, has said at the first eSports summit assembled during the London Games Weeks, said after announcing the eGames: “The eGames promises to be an exciting venture that will give eSports competitors across the UK even more opportunities to showcase their talents on an international stage. I welcome the ambitions of the IEGC and their efforts to promote the UK as a leading nation in the eSports sector”.

No details are yet known except for the fact that there are no specific games nor competitors announced, but it is said that more information is to come later this month.
