If you look at the users of bet365, 17% of them are also using Betfred, and 10% are also using Paddy Power. Or if you look at William Hill, 10% are also using bet365. There’s a lot of interplay between these.”
In terms of usage William Hill is actually second, with usage of 4.1 days per month, Bet365 wins with usage of 5.6 days per month and Paddy Power is last with 3.3 days per month.
“It’s all about the active users, that’s the key thing that has become the metric that matters, and the industry is waking up to the fact that downloads don’t matter. They’re a vanity metric where you can fake your way in. What’s important is what apps are really sticking around,” added Rosen.

According to the Australian Financial Review William Hill will be axing its online betting brands Sportinget and Centerbet from the Australian marketplace.
In order to establish a presence in Australia, William Hill has spent $700 million to purchase TomWaterhouse.com.au and Sportingbet (owner of Centerbet) in March.
William Hill’s chief executive Ralph Topping said that the company is planning to consolidate most of its businesses under the William Hill brand in order to take on such local companies as Tatts Group or Tabcorp. As party of the agreement made during the acquisition made in August, Mr Waterhouse will remain until December 2015. Centerbet was treated as a ‘secondary brand’ while Sportingbet was often confused with Sportsbet, which belonged to the rival company Paddy Power.
“You’ve got confusion of brands and you have to look for a unifying brand. They’re all strong brands but I believe the strongest brand of the lot is potentially William Hill,” said Topping. “This is not a gut reaction, it’s based on an assessment of the marketplace. William Hill is 80 years old. This is not a fly-by-night brand.”
