“Oppa is Gangnam style, Gangnam style”– everyone knows this song! In November 2012 PSY's “Gangnam Style” became the most viewed video on YouTube. After topping the record charts of more than 30 countries around the world it was awarded the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Video, and became the first video on YouTube to hit a billion views. It’s a great example of K-Pop (an abbreviation of Korean pop), a musical genre originating in South Korea that is characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements.
